The packaging distribution specialist sells more than 7,500 different items. The firm opted for the Reflex WMS warehouse management system to cope with its growing business, process 2,000 daily orders to seven countries more efficiently and reliably, and meet its promise to deliver within 24 hours.

Context and objectives

Raja Belgium is a subsidiary of Raja Group, Europe’s leading packaging distributor. It sells more than different 7,500 items via its e-commerce site, call centers and hard-copy catalogs. The firm promises to deliver within 24 hours to customers in Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Germany, and within 48 hours to Austria, Switzerland and Denmark. Each day, it ships more than 2,000 orders from its three distribution centers.

In the past, Raja Belgium used its ERP system to manage product receipt, picking and shipping operations. In early 2011, it decided to switch to an enterprise WMS to cope with 10% annual sales growth, process orders more efficiently, and meet its next-day delivery promise. In addition, Raja Group took the decision to streamline its IT tools and migrate to a single, group-wide warehouse management solution. Raja Belgium commissioned a consulting firm to help it determine its key subsidiaries’ requirements and invite market-leading WMS software vendors to tender.

The solution

After putting the contract out to tender the firm opted for Reflex WMS, which the group had already used in France since 2003, because of the range of functions it provides and because its flexible, customizable design meant it could be adapted to the specific features of Raja’s business. Hardis Group’s ability to support Raja through the deployment phase, and its experience in working with similar, international businesses, were also determining factors in its decision.

The solution was deployed in 2012 and has been updated regularly ever since to adapt to Raja’s changing needs. The firm’s logistics staff can now reconfigure processes in Reflex without outside support, and only rely on Hardis Group’s consultants and support staff to make changes to the core system.
