Luís Simões chooses Reflex WMS to manage its 58 logistics and cross-docking centres in Spain and Portugal

  • Luís Simões, a major player in the logistics and transport services market in Iberia, has taken a new step in its development by choosing Reflex WMS software to optimise the management of its 58 logistics and cross-docking centres in Spain and Portugal.
  • The software was selected for its ability to efficiently manage all inbound and outbound logistics flows from Luís Simões’ 24 logistics centres and 34 cross-docking centres, which handle around 10,000 e-commerce shipments a day, mainly for companies in the FMCG sector.
  • The solution will make it possible to implement new strategies for optimising logistics processes and flows, while integrating cutting-edge technologies such as AGVs, stacker cranes and pick-to-light systems to speed up order preparation and boost efficiency.

Grenoble, Madrid, 25 September 2024 – Luís Simões, a major player in the logistics and transport sector in Spain and Portugal, has chosen Reflex WMS, a software solution developed by Reflex, a Hardis Group business unit, to manage all of its 58 logistics and cross-docking centres spread across the Iberian Peninsula. This strategic decision is part of a drive to improve the efficiency and reliability of its operations, and to give the company the means to adapt quickly and autonomously to changing customer demands.

Luís Simões, the Iberian reference for quality of service in the transport and logistics sector.

Founded in 1948, Luís Simões is a family business that has established itself as the leader in road transport between Spain and Portugal, and now has over 2,400 employees. The company has been present and growing strongly in Spain since 1988. It expects this market to account for 50% of group sales within two years.

To meet its customers’ delivery requirements, Luís Simões relies on logistics operations centres (LOCs), transport operations centres (TOCs) and subcontracted platforms. The LOCs offer integrated logistics services (including customer stock management) and cross-docking operations. In subcontracted platforms, only cross-docking activities are carried out. The combination of these three types of infrastructure and their locations makes it possible to combine and optimise transport and distribution flows, routes and resources.

In total, Luís Simões handles 9,710 e-commerce shipments every day and manages more than 10 million picking units per month.

A new WMS to optimise complex and growing flows

The logistics provider has chosen Reflex WMS warehouse management software to replace its existing system. The decision has several objectives:

  • Optimise its logistics processes: the solution will facilitate the implementation of new optimisation strategies for inbound and outbound operations, improve overall warehouse efficiency and provide a global view of operations.
  • Automate processes to speed up picking and make it more reliable: Reflex WMS can be easily integrated with advanced warehouse automation technologies such as AGVs, stacker cranes and pick-to-light order picking systems.
  • Significantly reduce the number of order-picking errors, to improve customer satisfaction, a key point in Luís Simões’ service commitment.
  • Improve productivity and manage a higher volume of orders with the same resources, by reducing the number of manual interventions and optimising processes overall.
  • Gain global visibility and control over logistics operations in real time using Reflex Visibility.
  • Get a flexible and scalable solution to support the growth of Luís Simões’ business and enable the company to adapt easily and autonomously to the changing needs of each of its customers.

Antonio Fernandes, Director of Innovation and Projects at Luís Simões, states: ‘The deployment of Reflex WMS marks a crucial step for us. This software will not only enable us to increase our operational efficiency, but also to respond more quickly to the fluctuating demands of our customers, while maintaining our high-quality standards.’
